THE MANI REGION/ Recommendations
The Messinian and Laconic Mani: Coming from Kalamata, the Taygethos Mountains stretch southwards down to Laconia, where they "flow into the sea" at Gerolimenas. The region with the connecting road leads from the approach point Kalamata Airport/KLX with the new highway bypass in an arc past the Kalamata bay with harbor, worth seeing old town along the mountain villages. Kambos and Stavropigi with some nice tavernas. The bakery (left on the road after the gas station) and a café stop are a must here. Transfer time from KLX to here is about 40 minutes. Continue to Prosilio and past Kalives down to old Kardamili (Kardamily). The agency Wundertravel Greece is located in the center of the village on the main street opposite Annas - Cafe "Androuvitsa". Tip! Try the homemade cheesecake or a Mani sandwich here. Tavernas/restaurants/bars recommendations: Kastro, Kikis and of course Lela`s Taverna right by the sea. The best place for homemade ice cream and yogurt is LOLA. The Tikla bar with a great view, ambience and sophisticated cocktails is a must. Villa-Castle Kelefa. Your own Kastro for large families and celebrations: https://wundertravel.com/villa_burg_kelefa/
