The pretty fishing village is located in the south of the south-western finger of the Peloponnese in a beautiful bay with offshore islands, surrounded by fine sandy beaches. You will find stores, tavernas, cafés and small boutiques along the beach. There is a supermarket and several bus stops on the main road. A bus runs from Finikounda to Pylos and Kalamata several times a day.
The well-known beaches of Anemomylos and Mavrovoui are among the most beautiful in the whole area and have been awarded the blue flag for their good water quality.
Finikounda is an ideal starting point for excursions to Pylos, Methoni, Koroni or to Oxbelly Bay, which is one of the most beautiful beaches in Greece. The most famous sights in Messinia are ancient Messini and the Nestor Palace.
