KORONI
The town is located in a bay on the east coast of the Messenian peninsula about 50 kilometers south of Kalamata and 30 kilometers east of Methoni. West of the city the landscape is slightly hilly, the landscape is characterized by olive tree plantations.
The city is located on the back of a promontory that juts out into the Messinian Gulf. On the plateau of the headland is the fortress of Koroni, the city lies inland behind it, and with the center and port north of the fortress.
The old Koroni is best overlooked from the top of the old monastery. A short walk through the narrow alley past stone houses with lovingly landscaped gardens up to the women's monastery, with the Agia Sophia church and old basilica. Down on the promenade we recommend the old corner Kafeneion for a rest and small mezedes (small dishes).
From here you can enjoy the flair of the harbor promenade life and the busy waiters at their work.
FINNIKUNDA
The town of Finnikunda with its fine sandy beaches is lined towards the center by a wide range of taverns, bars and cafes and souvenir stores. In the evening, stroll along the beach promenade and start the evening with a glass of wine.

In 2011 the Attikis Odos was completed from Athens to Kalamata. The airport just expanded the runways extended. Transfer time from the airport to Petalidi, Finnikunda, Gialova, Koroni about 1 hrs.
Below the castle are the old town and the nunnery of Kalogreon, where the famous silk fabrics are woven. Of Kalamata's many churches, the Apostle Church from the 13th century is the oldest. In it, on March 23, 1821, the beginning of the struggle for freedom against the Turks was officially proclaimed. In addition, the city has an archaeological and a folklore museum
The city is also known for the export of olives. The variety "Kalamon" owes its name to the city and stands as a sought-after souvenir from the vacation.
The highlight of the cultural life is the annual summer festival in the castle amphitheater, with concerts and performances of the municipal theater.
Around the Apostoulous church, in the small branching cobblestone streets, are tinware dealers, herb and fruit shops, and individual cafes. Saturday is market, up by the old market halls.
