KORONI
The city is located in a bay on the east coast of the Messinian Peninsula about 50 kilometers south of Kalamata and 30 kilometers east of Methoni. West of the city, the landscape is slightly hilly, the landscape is characterized by olive tree plantations.
The city is located on the back of a headland that juts out into the Messinian Gulf. On the plateau of the headland lies the fortress of Koroni, the town lies behind it inland, as well as with the center and harbor north of the fortress.
The old Koroni is best overlooked from the top of the old monastery. A short walk through the narrow alley past stone houses with lovingly landscaped gardens to the convent, with the Agia Sophia church and old basilica up. Down on the promenade we recommend the old corner kafeneion for a rest and small mezedes (small food).
From here you can enjoy the flair of harbour promenade life and the busy waiters at work.
