Location:
Located directly on the beach promenade (which is converted into a pedestrian zone for cars from the evening), the Golden Star and the Mediterranean offer an ideal starting point. Relaxation seekers, nature lovers and guests looking for beautiful, white beaches with crystal-clear water will find the best conditions here. A real insider tip for getting to know a wonderfully unspoilt part of Greece
Beach:
Flat, shallow sandy beach right next to the resort. The wide, popular Simos lagoon beach and the long Panaghia Bay are easily reached within 5-10 minutes by car.
The two adjoining buildings have a reception with lounge area. The Hotel Golden Star and Mediterreanen are equally equipped. Cleaning and linen change twice a week.
Room: (max. 2 adults + 1 child)
Tasteful and modern furnishings with four-poster bed, fridge, air conditioning and TV. Bathroom with shower/WC, hairdryer. Balcony or terrace with the best sea view.
Sports and entertainment:
Hiking, snorkeling, diving, cycling, windsurfing and kitesurfing. The sea currents that converge here ensure a rich supply of fish thanks to the Pantellaria. Fresh fish and shellfish are prepared relatively cheaply and imaginatively in the numerous beach tavernas. The menu ranges from local to international dishes, which are prepared in the small tavernas and café bars.

In the small harbor with the ferry dock a little to the side, the countless small fishing boats rock in the light swell. I see old and young men mending the yellow nets and children playing.
A picture of ancient Greece from days long gone.
Tranquil, peaceful and picturesque.
Fish taverns and ouzo parlors with old tanned men looking at us curiously and friendly.
Over the next few days, over fresh fish, fish soup and the famous octopus, we will get talking to some of you. It's been a long winter and news is always welcome.
Southwest of the village are the first beautiful beaches of Kontogoni and Kalogeras with its sand dunes and cedars. The current name Elafonisos means "Deer Island": the island covers an area of around 19 km².
The highest elevation is Vardia at 276 m above sea level. It is about 570 m from the village of Pavlopetri on the Peloponnese. Together with some small surrounding islets and a coastal strip of around 3 km² on the mainland opposite, it forms the municipality of Elafonisos in the Peloponnese region.
Wonderful, clear water and long, fine sandy bays.
We feel like Robinson Crusou must have once felt.
A paradise for sun worshippers, snorkelers and nature lovers.
We have 2 weeks of sweet idleness ahead of us.
We read,
feast on fresh seafood,
and enjoy the sincere friendliness of Jorgos, Eleni from the Coralli Apartments and the ever-smiling old Missi Maria.
Our declared favorite beach is Simos Beach, a white sandy beach,
soft sand dunes, cedars swaying in the breeze and turquoise green sea create a picture of almost exotic idyll.
The dream beach is very wide with fine sand, the water is turquoise and clean,
almost like in the Caribbean. It is bordered by the two limestone hills of Cape Frangos and Cape Elenas and is 3-6 m deep.
Hotel, guesthouse and apartments on Elafonissos:
Recommendation WTG: Coralli Studios and Apartments, Mediterrenean Star, Golden Star in the village of Elafonissos.
The Sarakiniko Bay
To the southwest is the 10-15 m deep and 3 km long Sarakiniko bay with its wide sandy beach,
where the white sand forms dunes in which dark green stubby cedars take root. The white sea daffodils also bloom here.
Such a beautiful dune landscape is very rare.
The water is emerald green and very clean.
Other beaches are: on the east coast, the bay of Lefki and the bay of Frangos, which opens up to the south.
Right next to it is the wide bay of Sarakiniko, which covers the entire south coast. Both bays were safe anchorages, not least for pirate ships, and the scene of many a naval battle in their long history. Elafonissos has so far been spared from package tourism. Accommodation ranges from simple Greek-style rooms to boutique ambience and 2 hotels with pools.
The ferry crosses over to the island in just a few minutes from Neapolis (in the summer months until 22:30 in the morning and every half hour)
has always been one of the best anchorages in the Mediterranean.
